Orthodontics For Teens And Adults

cleveland orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment is designed to correct malocclusion, shifting teeth into an even position. This not only offers improvement for your smile’s beauty, but for function and health too. We have two different treatment options for teens and adults. In today’s blog, your Cleveland, TX, dentist talks about metal braces and Invisalign® aligners.

Choosing Orthodontic Treatment

Which one will be right for you? To help you find out, we will examine your smile with advanced digital imaging systems, so we can look at your teeth, roots, and jaw to assess the causes and severity of your misalignment. From there, we can choose the best orthodontic option for correcting your teeth. Remember, an even smile not only looks great, but is also less likely to develop everything from cavities and gum disease to TMJ disorder and chronic teeth grinding (bruxism). The process could also improve other facets of your smile and oral structures, limiting the risk of complications like sleep apnea too.

Braces

For more severe cases, we may recommend braces. Treatment means that we attach brackets to the front-facing sides of each tooth. A portion of an arch ire is then affixed to these brackets with a band. During regular visits to our office, we will adjust the tension in the wire to begin shifting the teeth. This could take about two years on average. By correcting your misalignment, we help improve the beauty and health of your smile, in a relatively short amount of time. If you have a case you assume is too severe for treatment, please come to our office for a consultation. We have solutions to help you enjoy a more attractive smile, one you can’t wait to show the world!

Invisalign®

We also have a completely clear option for qualifying teens and adults. The Invisalign® system involves wearing a set of aligners in a series, each one worn for about two weeks, 20 to 22 hours a day. The process continues for about a year for most patients, as each set shifts the teeth and corrects uneven portions of your smile. They fit comfortably, and can be removed before a meal. You can even take them out before brushing or flossing, or for special occasions.
