We Provide A Complete Crown In One Day

cleveland crowns

At one time, receiving a dental crown meant a pretty major time commitment, with at least two to three visits required. However, to prevent our busy patients from being overburdened, we’ve started using the CEREC system to create and place them in a single sitting. In today’s blog, your Cleveland, TX, dentist talks about same-day crowns!

When a Smile Needs a Crown

A dental crown is a restoration that covers the entire visible portion of each tooth. When in place, they make instant improvements to the shape and color of the teeth. For example, we could use them to repair tooth decay, help address infected or abscessed teeth, or lengthen the ones worn down by teeth grinding. We can repair cracked or chipped teeth too, and also reshape malformed teeth and address other esthetic issues. If you have missing teeth, we’ve used to secure a dental bridge in place, or to restore a single tooth dental implant!

The CEREC Process

In the past, the creation and placement process meant multiple visits. Now, we do everything same-day. To start, we will administer a numbing agent to ensure you feel comfortable. Next, we remove structure from the teeth and then take detailed images with an intraoral camera. We combine these images to craft a 3D model of your smile. The dentist then designs the finished product. We upload the information into the CEREC CAD/CAM milling machine, which uses dental ceramic to create the crown. When complete, we check the fit and make any necessary adjustments. We then place the restoration with a powerful bonding agent. You leave with a completely restored smile!

Protecting Your New Restoration

We often recommend a few simple changes to your daily routine to limit the risk of future cavities and infections, and to help prevent further damage. Daily brushing and flossing, a healthier diet, and visits for a checkup and cleaning could help stave off tooth decay and infections. Wearing a mouthguard when you play sports or martial arts could also limit the chances of a chipped, cracked, or knocked-out tooth.
