Our Team Places Crowns In One Visit

cleveland crownsWhen you have an issue too severe to be addressed with a filling alone, then your smile may benefit from the placement of a crown. Instead of requiring two to three visits, your Cleveland, TX, dentist could craft and place a dental crown in just one visit with advanced CAD/CAM technology, so in a single sitting you receive a lifelike restoration!

When Does A Smile Benefit From a Crown?

A dental crown provides major restoration for a tooth, covering the entire structure above the gum line to instantly repair major restorative or even cosmetic concerns. For example, placement has been used to address serious cavities or complete a root canal for an infected tooth. We could repair cracked and chipped teeth, or provide length to those worn down as a result of teeth grinding. The restoration also addresses issues with the shape of your tooth, and could be used to help replace missing teeth too. For example, we can secure a dental bridge or even restore a single tooth dental implant.

The CEREC Process

In the past, the process of restoring a tooth required two to three visits, and up to two weeks of wearing a temporary restoration. Now, with the CEREC system we accomplish this in just one sitting. We begin by administering a bonding agent to the area around the tooth and removing structure. With digital scanning technology, we take a series of detailed images of the prepared tooth, combining them to create a 3D model. After we design the crown, we upload the information into an onsite milling machine, which then crafts the restoration from a solid block of ceramic. We tint the material to ensure it blends with your smile. We then place with a bonding agent, completing your treatment in one sitting.

Keeping Teeth Bright

While these restorations have the potential to last decades, care is necessary to not only keep them bright, but also protect the teeth we’ve attached them to from issues like infection or gum disease. We suggest taking time to brush and floss daily as the dentist recommends, and find time to see us at least once every six months for a checkup and cleaning. Your diet is beneficial too, as cutting back on sugary and starchy items could limit plaque buildup. If you have an issue that requires repair, or if you tooth hurts, then let us know right away. We will see if you need a repair to enjoy a healthy smile once again.
