Music From Afar: African Children’s Choir

If you enjoy music, learning about another culture, and supporting children in need, there is an event nearby that might interest you and your family. The African Children’s Choir will be singing in our neighboring town of Splendora, just a short drive from our office and caring dentists in Cleveland, TX.  The choir is composed of children from 7 to 10 years old, who have seen various hardships and opportunities in their own country. The choir seeks to instill Christian principles through leading and teaching by examples, and their songs can be enjoyed by everyone.

The concert will be at Piney Woods Elementary School:

When Will the Children Be Singing?

The concert is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7:00 pm. If you are unable to attend the Splendora concert, there are other dates scheduled in the greater Houston area.

 What Types of Music Will the Children Share?

The concert will include some songs you may recognize, such as spirituals, and others that you may not. There is a lot of energy, dancing and body movements. The songs are accompanied by drumming, clapping, and musical instruments native to their home communities. You can hear an excerpt from the choir to get and sense of the energy and joy.
