The Benefits Of Cosmetic Orthodontics

cleveland invisalign

We use cosmetic treatments to brighten teeth and to also reshape them or repair damaged ones. But did you know that we can correct dental misalignment too? With Invisalign®, our team can correct poor alignment with clear aligners. In today’s blog, your Cleveland, TX, dentist talks about how we offer a cosmetic approach to orthodontics.

The Impact of Your Uneven Smile

Do you have malocclusion? Crooked, crowded, and overlapping teeth can cause a negative impact on your smile’s appearance, but this could threaten your oral health too. For example, the risk of tooth decay and gum disease could be higher as the teeth are difficult to thoroughly brush and floss. The risk of teeth stains and bad breath is higher for this reason too. For others, malocclusion actually upsets bite balance and strains the jaw joints, so the risk of serious complications like TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding) could occur, leading to painful symptoms and even damaged teeth. To avoid these issues and smile with confidence, you need orthodontic treatment!

The Invisalign® Treatment

Correcting your uneven smile doesn’t mean relying solely on braces either. Instead, we could use clear aligners custom-made and fitted for your smile. These will be created based on the detailed digital images we take of your smile, images we continue to create a detailed 3D digital impression. Each set will fit comfortably over your teethy and help gently guide the teeth toward their proper position. We will examine your smile during the initial consultation to see if this is right for you. We can offer this for teens and adults in our community!

How Treatment Works

The process involves wearing a set of these invisible aligners for about 20 to 22 hours a day, over the course of two weeks. You then begin wearing the next set for the same amount of time, and the process continues until you obtain optimal results. For adults this usually takes a year, and teens may end up to 18 months. These can also be removed too, so you don’t have to alter how you eat or avoid certain foods, and brushing and flossing your teeth is much easier too. Cleaning and maintaining them is easy, and we will check in with you during periodic visits too.
