This is something you won’t encounter very often: discussion of when to reschedule a dental checkup. Establishing a preventive routine is the best way for most people to know their dental health is being professionally assessed every six months or so. But once in a while, there is a good reason to call your dentist to reschedule.

Reason #1: When Something Isn’t Right

If you are brushing regularly at home, flossing daily, and not experiencing any problems, you can be assured that we have technology and experience to help us spot issues early, so they can be addressed while they are small. That might mean the difference between a tooth-colored filling for a small cavity, and a more extensive procedure, like a root canal treatment, for a problem that has progressed. However, if you are experiencing pain between appointments, or if you notice a new lump, bump or sore, if you are any issue causing your concern, let us know so we can reschedule to see you sooner.

Reason #2: When It’s An Emergency

Dental emergencies may not happen often, but if you are experiencing one, call our office right away. We may want to see you for a same-day appointment, or within a day or two.
