Cosmetic Orthodontic Care With Invisalign®

cleveland invisalign aligners

When you have misalignment, this could impact the beauty of your smile, as well as the health and function too. Fortunately, we can help address your uneven smile and provide a straighter one with a cosmetic approach. In today’s blog, your Cleveland, TX, dentist talks about the Invisalign® process.

When You Need Orthodontic Care

Do you have crooked, crowded, or overlapping teeth? If so, then you may need orthodontics to correct the position of your teeth. Doing so will have obvious cosmetic improvements for your smile. But you also improve the overall health and function of your smile too. Dental misalignment can provide places for food particles to become trapped, beyond the reach of a toothbrush or floss. This increases the risk of cavities and gum disease. Uneven teeth could also upset bite balance and strain the jaw joints, making the onset of TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding) more likely. Fortunately, we have a cosmetic option for correcting your uneven teeth.

Taking the Invisalign® Approach

To begin, we will assess the cause and extent of your misalignment, and then our team will take detailed digital impressions and images of your smile. We combine these to create a 3D model, one that enables experts to craft a series of custom aligners. Made from a BPA-free plastic, these will be practically invisible when worn, and fit gently over your teeth. A set from the series is worn for about 20 to 22 hours a day on average, for about two weeks. They will gradually reposition and correct the positions of your teeth. For many, optimal results take only a year, while teen patients may need up to 18 months.

Removable Braces

In addition to being nearly invisible when in place, these can also be removed! You don’t have to worry about food becoming stuck in your braces, as you can remove them before a meal. No need to avoid sticky or chewy foods anymore! Bring removable also makes brushing and flossing much simpler too. You can help protect your smile from discoloration, cavities, and gum disease. If you wear them as prescribed, you can also take them out for special occasions, such as a graduation or a first date.

If you have any questions about how we diagnose and treat misalignment, or about your potential candidacy for Invisalign®, then contact our team today. Scheduling a visit soon means you can use your 2022 dental benefits before they expire at the end of December!
