Does Your Smile Need Teeth Whitening Solutions?

When you have brown or yellow stains on your teeth, this could be a source of embarrassment. Instead of trying to hide your teeth from the world, why not seek cosmetic dental treatment? In today’s blog, your Cleveland, TX, dentist can discuss the two options we provide to remove stains, often in only one visit.

The Causes of Stained Teeth

Why do we develop stains on our teeth? In many cases, poor oral hygiene habits could allow plaque buildup to accumulate, which makes discoloration more visible. If you drink beverages with dark pigments, like soda, coffee, eta, and red wine, this could also stain your teeth. Smoking cigarettes or using other tobacco products could be a factor as well. As part of your treatment, we will identify the factors behind your discoloration and assess the overall severity. From there, we can choose which of our teeth whitening options is the best choice for your smile.

Brighter Smiles in 20 Minutes

Our in-office procedure can be completed in about 20 minutes in some cases, so you leave after one visit with a noticeably brighter smile. This is great if you need results fast and cannot wait. The Sinsational Smile system involves wearing a pre-filled silicone tray that covers the teeth in a special bleaching gel. An LED light is then used to activate the gel and begin breaking up stains. You could leave with a smile several shades brighter. We also send you home with a special pen to perform touchups and keep your results lasting for months to come!

Brightening Teeth at Home

For more severe stains, we have an at-home option that could brighten teeth by up to eight shades, and also helps prevent tooth sensitivity afterward. First, you stop by the office long enough for us to create a custom-made set of plastic trays. You then return home with the trays and a bleaching gel. At home, the trays will be filled with gel and worn daily for about 30 to 45 minutes on average. The trays prevent saliva from diluting the gel, and ensure even results across your smile. This continues for about one to two weeks. Afterward, the trays and leftover gel are yours to keep and use for touchups down the road.
