How We Straighten Uneven Smiles

cleveland orthodontic care

When you have crooked and crowded teeth, or if they overlap one another, this could cause you to feel embarrassed about your smile’s appearance. In addition, you could find your smile more vulnerable to serious oral health complications. To address these concerns, your Cleveland, TX, dentist may recommend orthodontic treatment.

The Reasons to Correct Your Smile

When you have uneven teeth, this could make thorough brushing and flossing a difficult process. With food particles caught between your teeth, you could be more likely to develop tooth decay and gum disease. In addition, the stress on your jaw joints from imbalanced bites could cause TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding) to develop as well. You could also feel embarrassed about your appearance too! Don’t live with an uneven smile, talk to our team about possible solutions to your dental malocclusion.

Braces

Metal braces are an effective treatment option, especially for those with more severe cases of dental misalignment. We begin by adhering metal brackets to the front-facing sides of each tooth. We then connect portions of a thin arch wire to each bracket with a band. You may also have additional bands connecting your upper and lower set of braces. During regular visits with our team, we will adjust tension in the wire to reposition the teeth. Total treatment time takes about two years on average, and could result in an even and stunning new smile!

Invisalign®

We could also offer a more cosmetic option with Invisalign®. Our team will take detailed digital images of your smile with advanced technology, using them to help design and fabricate a series of aligners from a BPA-free plastic material. Each aligner will be completely clear and barely noticeable, and this could help teens and adults alike. Treatment means wearing a set for two weeks, 20 to22 hours per day. At this point, you then begin wearing the next set in the series. This process continues for about a year for adults, or up to 18 months for teens. They can also be removed before you eat, or prior to brushing and flossing your teeth each day, making your day-to-day experience much easier.
