We Can Place Crowns In One Visit

cleveland dental crowns

When you need a dental crown to treat your smile, you may assume this means two to three visits to complete. But with CAD/CAM CEREC technology, our team can create and place a custom dental crown in a single visit. In today’s blog, your Cleveland, TX, dentist talks about our single-visit crowns.

When Your Smile Benefits From One

A dental crown covers the entire visible portion of your smile, which means we can treat a variety of oral health issues, both restorative and cosmetic. For example, we can place one to treat cases of severe tooth decay or to complete a root canal for an infected tooth. We can also repair cracked or chipped teeth too, and lengthen the ones worn down by teeth grinding. Placement could address misshapen teeth, mask teeth stains, and also aid in tooth replacement! If you have minor tooth loss, we can secure a dental bridge or even restore a single tooth dental implant.

CEREC Dental Restorations

At one time, creating and placing a crown meant at least two visits. However, we can use advanced CEREC technology to address the craft and secure one in a single visit. To begin, we will need to numb the tooth so we can gently remove structure from it. We next take a series of pictures with a tiny digital camera at the end of a thin wand. We combine all of these images to create a computer impression, one far more detailed than a traditional physical bite impression.

We design the restoration and upload the information into an onsite milling machine, which crafts the finished product from a solid block of ceramic. The material is very durable and can absorb daily bite forces. The material can also be color-matched to blend with your smiles seamlessly. We then attach the finished product with a powerful bonding agent, all in a single visit!

Securing New Teeth

We could also use this to create a dental bridge, which replaces between one and three missing teeth in a row, using a prosthetic consisting of a new tooth with crowns attached to each end. If you’re receiving a dental implant, we can create the restoration to act as the visible portion.
