Single Visit Cosmetic Treatment With Dental Bonding

Cleveland dental bonding

Teeth whitening isn’t the only option to improve the beauty of your smile. We have dental bonding and contouring to help correct a number of cosmetic issues, and in only one visit! In today’s blog, your Cleveland, TX, dentist talks about how we use these two processes to help boost the beauty of the smile.

The Dental Bonding Procedure

With dental bonding, we actually use the same composite resin employed in our tooth-colored dental fillings. However, instead of treating cavities, we will address a variety of cosmetic issues. The treatment takes one visit. We first administer a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable, then we gently remove any decay and clean the tooth. We may etch the surfaces as well. The composite resin is then applied in several layers. The material is shaded to blend with the rest of your tooth! We shape and sculpt the tooth to ensure a lifelike appearance, and polish the tooth as the last step.

The procedure allows us to mask permanent teeth stains, the type that may not respond to most teeth whitening procedures. We could also reshape malformed teeth, lengthen worn down teeth, and repair minor chips and cracks. The procedure could also fill embarrassing gaps between the teeth.

Contouring a Smile

The contouring process takes a very different approach. We don’t need to apply new materials to the tooth. Instead, we gently sand and buff the outer structure to correct a variety of common esthetic issues. For example, we can address very minor chips, and smooth out pits, grooves, and rough patches in the surfaces. We also reshape malformed or overly large teeth, and dull overly sharp or pointed parts of a tooth. We could do this in the same visit as bonding, or as a separate procedure. Again, this cosmetic procedure only takes one visit to complete!
