Your Smile: Your Responsibilities Versus Our Responsibilities

When we’re talking about smile care as a whole, you already know that you’ve got some responsibilities to take care of on a regular basis in order to keep those teeth and gums nice and healthy. You’ve got short-term, daily responsibilities and then you’ve got the long-term goals, too. While you may not think about it very often, since you’re focused on what you need to get done, we remind you that we have some responsibilities, too! Remembering this can help offer you some relief, so you remember: You’re not in this dental care thing alone. Instead, you’ve got our Cleveland, TX team’s full support!

Your Short-Term Responsibilities

The short-term responsibilities to keep in mind in terms of your day-to-day smile care are simple. They include thinking through the ways your use your smile (you shouldn’t use it as a tool or try to bite into extra-hard foods with it). You’ll also need to practice excellent dental hygiene. Easy!

Your Long-Term Responsibilities

Your long-term responsibilities in terms of your smile care include seeking out the professional care you need from our team in order to make your smile as healthy as it can be and to keep it that way. This generally includes scheduling your visits with us for checkups and cleanings (which should happen two times over the course of a year, preferably every six months). Then, of course, you must also set up any visits necessary for repairs, so we can restore your oral health.

Our Responsibilities

Yes, at this point, you’re probably starting to feel a little tired of reading the word “responsibilities.” However, you may be wondering, what exactly do we consider our end of the bargain in regard to your smile? We encourage you to keep in mind that while what you need to do is practice care at home and come in to see us, it is our job to provide you with all of the education you need to do a good job at home, to keep you updated on the health of your smile, to offer you all of the options available, and to guide you toward making optimal choices for your smile care. Then, if you choose to schedule a treatment, it is also our job to be here to provide it for you and to answer any and all questions you have, while offering support!
