3 Ways To Recognize National Children’s Dental Health Month

Good news! February, in addition to other things (oh, such as Valentine’s Day) is National Children’s Dental Health Month! This may be music to your ears, especially when you consider the fact that your little ones may have some very big plans of gobbling down loads of heart-shaped candies come February 14th! So, what does this mean to you and your kids, you wonder, and how can you recognize this time of the year in a way that is beneficial? Our Cleveland, TX team would love to help you think about ways to work this focus on children’s dental health into your daily life!

#1: Come On In For That Visit

What is it that your children need right now in terms of their dental health? Have you been meaning to schedule a dental cleaning and exam but you haven’t gotten around to it just yet? Maybe you have realized that dental sealants really are going to be something you know will benefit your children and you’d love to set that treatment up and feel certain your kids are better protected against decay. In whatever way our practice can help you treat your children’s smiles, so that their oral health remains in excellent condition, just let us know! We are always happy to hear from you.

#2: Talk With Your Kids

Start or continue the dental health conversation with your kids. Talking with them about smile care is a good way to incorporate information that they will need to know for life and always helps you keep up with how their smiles are doing. Remember, it doesn’t have to be a clinical discussion! You can simply ask your kids how their smiles are, you can count your teeth together, or you can set up a fun outing to buy new toothbrushes and toothpaste! By involving your kiddos in the experience, it helps them to feel excited about caring for their teeth (especially when you let them choose their own products).

#3: Have A Little Coloring Fun, Reading Fun, Etc.

Thanks to the American Dental Association, you have access to some coloring sheets and other activities that may be fun to work on together (they’re in honor of February’s National Children’s Dental Health Month, of course, and are available here). Or, read a book about dental health together, download a fun game on your phone about teeth, or anything else that crosses your mind!
